In the picture above you see Kim Emerson with her grandson Corbin, and Wyah a member of Kim's family of wolves.
Events that took place made it necessary for Kim to leave the pack and move on. Before she did, she took several days and interviewed the wolf pack on lessons for humans to live by. Following is one of those lessons.
Kim: Blackfoot, I would like to thank you and the family for meeting with me today. I know you have pressing matters and that your time is valuable, so I just wanted you to know how grateful I am.
Blackfoot: Kim, you are one of us. You know I would do anything for you. I am sorry to see you go, but I know that you must.
Kim: Thank you Blackfoot. You know, I have gained so much wisdom about life from you and the others. If you don’t mind I would like to ask you a few questions before I go. I have been reading about the law of abundance lately and it seems that humans are getting a better handle on what that really means, yet at times it seems to elude us.
Blackfoot: (Holding back a laugh). With all due respect Kim, what do you expect, after all you are speaking of humans. Be patient my friend.
Kim: You have told me that now for two years (they both laugh together). I have noticed you and the family seem to grasp the law of abundance quite readily.
Blackfoot: (Sits and waits quietly)
Kim: Although, when you make a kill for dinner I notice that you and Montana are the first to eat, Wyah has always eaten last.
Blackfoot: Ah yes, you are observant. That is good. I will ask you a question in return. Have you ever seen Wyah go hungry? Do we ever devour it all?
Kim: No.
Blackfoot: If you will remember, when Luke was a tiny baby, he ate first; after all he is our future. After that it is only fitting that we eat first, we are the alpha pair, but we never feast until we become sick in body and spirit. In Balance with that, we are the first to enter a fight with an enemy as we are the strongest and fastest. We would die for our family, which includes you and Corbin.
Kim: Oh, I know that! I understand your love and loyalty, but how do you follow the law of abundance if you are always the first to eat?
Blackfoot: It is important that we eat first, that we keep our strength, but we never come from greed because we understand that there will be more tomorrow. No matter what size the meal is, we always leave enough for the others. They are our family and we would never allow them to go without meat.
Kim: Of course not. You would never do that.
Blackfoot: Right. We eat what we need, we are not greedy. After we finish, Tanka, Luke, and finally your sweet Wyah have their fill. There is always enough for all. Unlike the Two-legged ones, we would never leave anyone out. And that, my friend, is the difference between man and us. They lose sight of the fact that Great Spirit has so much abundance to give to all that they grab in fear, which causes greed.
Kim: Thank you Blackfoot, for sharing your wisdom. I will never forget you my friend.
Blackfoot: (Silently kisses Kim on the check).
